Moving Gracefully
A Guide to Relocating Yourself & Your Family
Why did I write a book on moving? Since graduating college, I’ve made 11 interstate moves and 6 local ones. I’ve lived in apartments, houses, and condos across the country. I’ve moved by myself, with my husband, and at times also with children and a rabbit. Many of these were corporate moves, but some we did on our own. I’ve also helped family members move a number of times, helping to determine what should go and what should not.
Years ago, I found myself answering relocation questions from family and friends, and realized that it would be helpful if I pulled together all the advice and information about moving, so that I could just hand it to those who were requesting info. This way, I wouldn’t have to worry about leaving something out. As I researched, more and more things seemed critical to include, and now they’re all in Moving Gracefully; A Guide to Relocating Yourself and Your Family.
My great wish is that this book will take the mystery out of moving, help you to make smart decisions as you move through the process, enable you to experience the move as an adventure, guide your family to adjust happily to their new surroundings, and get the most out of living in a new area. As with making new friends and living life in general, your attitude will make all the difference. Enjoy your explorations in new places!

Carol Miller Fradkin grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and earned her BS at the University of Maryland. Carol has lived in Atlanta (twice), Baltimore (twice), southern California (twice), Chicago (3 times), Nashville TN, Rochester NY, and St. Louis. She’s held a variety of positions, including multiple volunteer leadership roles in non-profit organizations, but her longest career positions were as a flight attendant and the administrator of the non-profit BMT InfoNet (Blood & Marrow Transplant Information Network). These may seem like very diverse positions, but her passion for helping people, and especially helping people feel comfortable in unfamiliar situations, is a dominant theme. Carol and her husband Gary currently split their time between Nashville and Atlanta, and are extremely grateful for the experiences and relationships with which they’ve been blessed, due to moving and travel.
Carol has published two books. Her first is Moving Gracefully: A Guide to Relocating Yourself & Your Family; her second is What Brings You JOY?
